ARCHITECTURE
Twentieth Century architecture and design is extremely important to our practice.
John was brought up in/beside Killingworth Towers (1969-87) and we were the coordinators of the Twentieth Century Society (C20) in the North East of England for over a decade.
We campaigned to save the Trinity Square car park and shopping centre (aka the Get Carter car park) in Gateshead in 2009 and wrote the successful listing applications for the Apollo Pavilion in 2011 (Grade II*) and the Salvation Army Social Services Centre, City Road, Newcastle by Ryder and Yates.(Grade II). Karen wrote the Millennium Bridge for the Twentieth Century Society publication 100 Buildings, 100 Years (also an exhibition at the Royal Academy).
Our work is included in various architectural publications and the Something Concrete + Modern archive
